Opening Reception for The Drawings of Leon Dabo at Sullivan Goss

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

First off, let me say thanks for coming out on Thursday night. What a huge delight to see such a large crowd at the gallery. I am very pleased that you were able to meet Leon Dabo, we’ve been dying to share him with you for months! Stay tuned for a mini blog-tour of the exhibition that will come in the next week. Congratulations to Jon Francis. Nicole Strasburg, and all the artists that participated in 100 Grand for another great opening for your shows!

Nathan Vonk leads the monthly Art Crawl all over State Street. Here he instructs his crawlees about the work in 100 Grand. There are still a few weeks left to see this show, make sure you see it before it comes down!

If you didn’t get a chance to come by on Thursday, don’t fret! The Drawings of Leon Dabo will be on display through March 31st, so there’s plenty of time. Make sure you do swing by though, because these drawings are critical in gaining a full understanding of Dabo’s oeuvre.

If anything, you should come out on 1st Thursday to see what work of art Ted Mills will choose to stand by for his monthly portrait. I think this one’s a winner.

Pictures from First Thursday at Sullivan Goss

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

For the first time in ages Sullivan Goss had two contemporary art exhibits opening on the same night. Throw in an appearance by the popular Nicole Strasburg and you have a recipe for one very busy First Thursday, with the artists from all three shows in the contemporary gallery together at once. Curator Susan Bush found a moment during the evening to capture the event with few photos.

If you weren’t able to attend the opening, take a moment this weekend to stop in and see all of these great shows.

It is a thoughtful and in depth examination of Nicole’s career and current show. You can also check out the interview here, then make sure to come in to the gallery to see this incredibly popular show for yourself.

Nicole Strasburg: Air, Earth, Fire, Water Opening August 6th

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Sullivan Goss is excited to announce the opening of our upcoming exhibit Nicole Strasburg: Air, Earth, Fire, Water. The show officially opens on this coming 1st Thursday, August 6th. However, I will let our blog readers in on a little secret. Because Nicole’s work is so immensely popular, if you want to get first pick of this stunning group of paintings, you better come in as soon as possible.  We just finished putting the final touches on the show and it looks amazing. Nicole is one of Santa Barbara’s most beloved painters and the opening on Thursday is sure to be a major event. We’ve already sold the first few paintings and they are sure to go fast. So, make plans to visit the gallery to see this wonderful show.
