Martha Mayer Erlebacher: Emblems of Desire

Video link to Martha Mayer Erlebacher: Emblems of Desire

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, we currently have work by three women artists on view in our Contemporary gallery. It is the first time that the contemporary gallery has been taken up entirely by women artists.

The second of the three artists that we are highlighting on the blog this week is Martha Mayer Erlebacher. Erlebacher, who is based in Philadelphia, is one of the countries leading Contemporary Realist painters. From her latest body of work it is easy to see why. This body of work consists of male and female nudes, in a contemporary treatment of classical subjects, creating a powerful group of work.
