BILL DEWEY: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF ORPHA KLINKER

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Photographer Bill Dewey has been a solid fixture of the California art scene for many years through his involvement with the Oak Group. Where the Oak Group concerns itself with documenting California’svanishing landscape, though, we asked Dewey to document its historic landmarks. Both projects seek to preserve through documentation.

The results are fascinating. Where the structures no longer exist, they have been replaced by freeways, housing developments, parking lots, city parks, and empty lots.

Students of California history will likely find the exhibit fascinating. What do you think?
